| Is it just me or do they crash a lot? Is it especially difficult to pilot one or is it just easier for the Covenant and/or Brutes to shot them down because of their size?

| == Bad Luck ==
| |
|
| |
| Removing a bit of the Trivia section, as follows:
| |
| "It is possible that Albatrosses are only seen crashed in the Halo universe, considering the Albatross is considered by seamen traditionally as a sign of bad luck on a voyage."
| |
|
| |
| First, two crashes is hardly a trend. Second, that's pretty bad grammar. And third, albatrosses are considered to be good luck by sailors of yore, as they followed the ships and were a sort of companion. Killing one is bad luck, as per the Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

| Okay, I have a problem with people seeing things textures and all that. I have checked this out for myself and see no face on the Albatross, so unless there is a definitive picture proving otherwise, I am removing the mention of a face. XRoadToDawnX 21:42, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

| ==orbital drop pod==
| |
| is there even any sources that tell us it's a dropship I'm not regarding concept art as a source because that's just an idea of what it should look like. Due to most of the time the albatross appears it's slamed into the ground with the cargo bay open I think this is a drop pod for vehicles (the sandtrap discription says something about the UNSC capturing it from the brutes) besides it doesn't have evidence of a cockpit (or one that can fit a human or proper flight crew) and it doesn't have any wings. The thrusters on the side are probably like the ones on escape pods from the pillar of autumn or the chute on a HEV they just slow it down so the cargo isn't damaged/destroyed. I think we should change this to being refered to as a drop pod instead of a dropship

| :::I'll try to take a screen-shot. I know it isn't a Pelican, the ship that gives it to you is very large and a plate on the bottom extends down like a platform with lots of vehicles on it including two Scorpions. It is the level where 343GS says "Shall I help you choose a vehicle reclaimer? This one looks to be in perfect condition, primitive armour non-withstanding" about one of the scorpions and someone replies "A tanks a tank lightbulb"81.108.237.26 19:14, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

| == D82-EST Darter ==
| |
|
| |
| Should we mention the D82-EST Darter on the article as a predecessor to the D96. Didn't the D96 replace the smaller and less effective D82 later in the war? Just a thought to clear that up. Bunch of people think they are the same dropship do to similar cockpit. maybe generational differences? --RussellofSwinhart 09:39, 23 July 2011 (EDT)

| |
| : The Darter would be concurrent with other dropship designs. Not a phased-out version but one with a different specific role. The Darter was initially named in the Essential Visual Guide for the dropship seen in Halo Wars. If the designation starts with "D", it's a dropship, so D77, D82, D96. I don't think the Darter's designation was fully spelled out officially, but I came up with EST as "Equipment/Supply Transport" but it didn't make it into the Guide as the page was actually for the Albatross, not the Darter. It is interesting to note that the Darter's aft set of engines are the same design as the aft engines of the Pelican. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 11:44, 17 August 2013 (EDT)

| :The transport on that map is NOT a Darter. It is WAY too large for the Darter. The Darter is about the size of a Pelican. This ship is many times that size. NOt sure if we'll find out what it's called officially. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 11:46, 17 August 2013 (EDT)

| ::The caption for the image in question (the fourth in the gallery) explicitly calls the dropship a Darter. Its size in Halo Wars is because of gameplay restrictions, a in RTS games. --<span style="color:gray">Our vengeance is at hand.</span> (<span style="color:gray">Talk to me.</span>) 13:20, 17 August 2013 (EDT)

| :My info comes from 343 Industries. It was going to be considered a Darter early on until a discussion involved one of their people comparing the model to a Warthog and they realized just how large a model they used and decided it was not. You may be referencing an old screenshot caption. There will be an opportunity coming up that could reference it explicitly, but it will not. I may be able to say more later. The Darter's size in Halo Wars is exactly as it was designed. It uses the Pelican's aft engines are is sized the same. I understand all too well how some things in games have exaggerated sizes. The Darter is not one of them. It was sized appropriately to the Vulture, Pelican, Shortsword, etc. I helped figure out those sizes for the Essential Visual Guide. -ScaleMaster117 (talk) 15:25, 17 August 2013 (EDT)
