I thought from the description in the novel that Camp Independence was merely a tunnel discovered by Whitcomb & "his" Spartans that they set-up with basic security rather than a pre-existing location. :Perhaps, but bolted-down guass cannons are not easily obtained and set up. And though the table was fold-out, that isn't something you come by magically, especially considering the utter destruction of HIGHCOM.
