I know we can confidently state that the Cole Protocol was taken into effect ''after'' Cole invented it, but as late as 2535 in this instance? I'm not so sure, since it appears that the protocol was accepted uniformly throughout the UNSC Navy in 2531 (as Cole wrote the protocol in December, 2530). And since the appearances of the Battle of Algolis focus on UNSC military instillations/vessels I think we can still assume that the battle could have taken place between 2531-2534 (i.e. post-2530). I didn't want to just change in case the previous editor had a more in depth case for keeping the battle post-2535. -- [[User talk:Lord Hyren|Lord Hyren]] 06:24, March 22, 2010 (UTC)

:''Halo: The Cole Protocol'', set in 2535, revolves around the enforcement of the protocol, which has just come into effect. The protocol that Cole wrote in 2530 was the first draft to be sent to Margaret O. Parangosky for approval. - [[User:Halo-343|<span style="color: purple; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: 128%;">'''Halo-343'''</span>]] [[User talk:Halo-343|<font color="red"><nowiki>(</nowiki>'''Talk'''<nowiki>)</nowiki></font>]] [[Special:Contributions/Halo-343|<font color="orange"><nowiki>(</nowiki>'''Contribs'''<nowiki>)</nowiki></font>]] [[Special:Editcount/Halo-343|<font color="green"><nowiki>(</nowiki>'''Edits'''<nowiki>)</nowiki></font>]] 00:06, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

True, but we we know the Protocol had been enacted for some time prior to the novel's beginning. What we don't know is ''how much'' time. -- [[User talk:Lord Hyren|Lord Hyren]] 16:03, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

== Detail ==
The work that's gone into the rewrite on this article is very much appreciated, thank you Ynoss for doing it. However, I am going to have to bring up some issues - namely the sheer detail the article goes into. As a general rule, battle articles shouldn't need to go into such specifics as specific dialogue or words or hand movements - we are an encyclopaedia after all, not a plot synopsis. IMO, the sections on Prototype and Midnight in the Heart of the Midlothian could both be better surmised down into 1-2 paragraphs each. I've also noticed quite a few spelling and grammar errors in the new revision of the article, so I'll be adding the Cleanup template for now. In general, the sections I mentioned above should be condensed, as right now they go into excessive detail.
Overall though, the effort that has gone into this writeup is pretty amazing; thank you for the effort nonetheless.[[User:BaconShelf|<span style="color:green;">BaconShelf</span>]] <span style="font-size:90%">([[User:BaconShelf|talk]])</span> 08:22, July 12, 2021 (EDT)
