Early history
Early history
In 2495, the Sundered Legion emerged and began a series of brushfire conflicts on Meridian. Though they deliberately held back to help find strategies and weaknesses, sending what they learn to the Secessionist Union. They believed that the deciding conflict of the Insurrection was at Meridian.
In 2495, the Sundered Legion fuelled a number of conflicts and discord throughout Meridian with their antagonistic political ideologies.

In 2499, the Colonial Military Authority officially departed the moon prompting the Legion to attack the city of Bretagne, which started uprisings in Sabudia and Aagen.

Following the election of Charles Zdenek in 2503, tensions between the Legion and UEG backed elements created disputes over territories on the Meridian.
Defeat
After five years of near-constant conflict, Sundered Legion forces were defeated by the United Nations Space Command at the Siege of Athea on Meridian. Leaders of the Sundered Legion were placed on trial in the courts of the Unified Earth Government, though the rest of the faction's members were offered amnesty by the UNSC.
Open conflict and defeat
In 2516, the Legion mobilized and stole several Scorpion tanks. The UNSC at this point decided to retaliate.

By 2518, the Sundered Legion's leadership were being harbored by the country of Aethia on Meridian. The UNSC backed Meridian Air Force began Operation: OPEN GRAVE or the Siege of Aethia in an effort to take out this leadership. Fighting would continue for three years and in 2521, the UNSC being bolstered by extra resources from Operation: TREBUCHET managed to end the Siege and break the Sundered Legion.

Legacy
Legacy
Although parts of the Legion stayed active following the Siege of Aethia, they would never enjoy the same support or scale again.
By 2548, the Sundered Legion faded into the past. Rumors persisted at that time that a bunker underneath the town of Brume-sur-Mer officially built at the start of the Human-Covenant War, had actually belonged to the Sundered Legion. During the Battle of Meridian that same year, Saskia Nazari, Victor Gallardo, Dorian Nguyen, Evelyn Rousseau and Spartan-III Owen-B096 located an abandoned and long-forgotten Sundered Legion hanger near Brume-sur-Mer. The hanger contained a Prowler that the Legion had presumably stolen from ONI during the Insurrection and which was still functional. The presumed great-grandson of one of the Legion, Dorian's DNA allowed him to access the ship's systems and fly the survivors from Brume-sur-Mer off of Meridian.
