Roadkill Halo 3 Medal Icon

The Splatter (Roadkill in Halo 2) medal is awarded in campaign, multiplayer, Firefight and Spartan Ops and achieved for hitting and killing an opponent with a vehicle. It is represented in Halo 2 and the Halo 3 Beta by a five-pointed star with a tire in the center (this image was later used for Wheelman). In Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach it is represented by a yellow diamond street sign depicting a person split in half at the waist, imposed on a bronze cross. In Halo 4 the sign is imposed on a grey 4-pointed star. In Halo 5: Guardians the medal consists of the street sign only.

This medal is accompanied by the message, "You splattered (player)". It is also possible to splatter a player with an object by launching it with an explosive, using a gravity hammer, or by launching a large object through a man cannon.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Halo 3 medal also resembles the "Bob-B-Q" achievement from the XBLA port of Marathon 2: Durandal.
  • The medal has a Bungie difficulty rating of 1 out of 10.
  • An altered version of this medal can be seen on Sandbox. The sign first appeared in the series as the Zanzibar Sign Easter Egg on October 31, though the emblem's design has been a symbol of Bungie for far longer.
  • Earning this medal in a Halo 2 for Windows Vista multiplayer game unlocked the Roadkill achievement.
  • Prior to the shutdown of Xbox 360 Halo online services on January 13, 2022, earning this medal with the Mongoose on a ranked free-for-all playlist in Halo 3 unlocked the Mongoose Mowdown achievement.
  • Prior to the shutdown, earning this medal five times in a Halo: Reach multiplayer matchmaking game on an Anniversary map unlocked the License to Kill achievement.
  • Prior to the shutdown, earning this medal five times in a Halo 4 War Games matchmaking game on a Castle map unlocked the Outta My Way! achievement.
  • Earning 100 Splatter medals in Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer matchmaking in Halo: The Master Chief Collection will unlock the Roadkill Rampage achievement.
  • In Halo: Reach, although one can not easily splatter with the slow Forklift unless their opponent is sprinting or charging, using the forklift as a projectile will earn one this medal, even if no one is driving it. The medal will also be awarded if the forklift explodes and kills an enemy.
