Design details
A refinement of earlier plasma-bolt launchers, the Type-53 Plasma Caster has found particular favor among Covenant forces engaged in the bitter civil war on Sanghelios.[1] The Plasma Caster fires multiple explosive plasma projectiles. The Plasma Caster has two firing modes. When firing rapidly, the Plasma Caster shoots balls of plasma in a slight arc, which can bounce off objects before detonating, making it a favorite of Covenant assault troops. While holding the fire button or fired in semi-automatic mode, the Plasma Caster's side panels deploy outwards, firing a more powerful projectile that explodes into smaller charges upon detonation[2]. While charge firing, the Plasma Caster's projectiles can stick to any object, including other players.
Variants
Scourge of Fire
The Scourge of Fire fires two plasma bolts at once and does not overheat.[3]
White Scar
The White Scar fires modified bolts similar to a Type-33 Needler's blamite shards that are set to proximity detonate if hipfired.[3]
Trivia
- The weapon's forward body and un-charged firing mode are similar to the Concussion Rifle, though the latter's ammunition detonates on impact rather than a timer.
