| The R'sisho-pattern Ship Breacher 28 or simply the Tick, is a Covenant ship specifically designed for boarding an enemy vessel.
| |
| | |
| ==Overview==
| |
| ===Design details===
| |
| The Tick has an unconventional layout, consisting of a central boarding tube with three large arms surrounding it, facing the front of the vessel. Completely unarmed, the Tick is designed to launch itself at high speed toward an enemy target and clamp itself onto the hull, before extending a proboscis that cuts through the hull of the target vessel. Once the connection is secure, the craft's troop payload is free to exit the Tick and commence boarding operations. Once the mission is complete, the Tick retracts the boarding tube, unclamps, and boosts away to safety. When the craft boards via windows it seems to use the outer edge of the boarding tube to superheat the glass, thus the glass does not shatter and depressurise the compartment.
| |
| | |
| The entry tube for the Tick appears to have an energy shield coating preventing unauthorised entry from the outside, and has an antigravity system of some kind similar to High Charity's gravity bridges, which pushes troops out of the front of the Tick.

|
| |
|
| ===Usage===
| | When a UNSC ship is under siege by the Covenant Fleet, rather than simply destroy it, Covenant forces may attempt to board the ship and search for vital information or capture valuable individuals on the crew. In such a situation the Boarding Craft is used. They simply use the windows or the empty escape pod docking rings to board the vessel. |
| The Tick is a boarding craft similar in nature to the Brhi Xur, and is such only intended for use as a specialised dropship in naval boarding actions. Due to the overwhelming disparity of firepower found on Covenant starships, such actions are generally a rarity (especially during the Human-Covenant War), and generally occur only at the edict of a fleetmaster or San'Shyuum official. Unlike the Leech, the Tick has very little in common with the Spirit dropship family and has no armaments to speak of, instead relying on its high-thrust impulse drives to navigate space at bone-crushing accelerations. Due to the Tick's size, it is sometimes unsuitable for deployment in confined spaces; in these situations, the Leech or specialised Ru'swum conversions bearing docking connectors may be used instead.

| | The Covenant have been known to try and capture a UNSC ship instead of simply destroying it. When they attempt to capture a ship they damage it enough so that the crew must abandon it, then they simply use the escape pod docking rings to board the vessel--humans go out, the Covenant go in. |

| ==List of appearances==
| | When it boards through windows it probably superheats the needle (passageway) to melt the glass and won't shatter when it latches on.It also seems it must be done quick and carefully because the vacuum of space will instantly cool the glass down. |
