Born to [[Clan Vol]] on [[Malurok]], Vol served the [[Covenant]] guard as a [[field master]] until the [[Great Schism]]. With the Covenant's fracturing, Vol became an arms dealer and an assassin, before ultimately serving 'Mdama's [[Jul 'Mdama's Covenant|Covenant]] as a [[Sangheili Commander|commander]].<ref name="VIS"/><ref name="VIP"/> However, in the [[Requiem Campaign]] of [[2558|February 2558]], Vol was assassinated by [[Fireteam Crimson]].<ref name="trip"/>

Parg Vol was born to [[Clan Vol]] on [[2481|July 24, 2481]] on [[Malurok]], a [[Sangheili]] base world. Vol served the [[Covenant|Covenant Empire]] as a [[field master]] within the Covenant's guard. In [[2552#November|November 2552]], the [[Great Schism]] broke out after the [[Hierarchs]] betrayed the Sangheili. Despite his hatred of the [[Jiralhanae]] and [[San'Shyuum]], he opposed [[Arbiter]] [[Thel Vadam]]'s alliance with the [[human]]s, believing the Sangheili should have wiped out humanity completely.<ref name="VIS"/>

After the [[Human-Covenant War]], Vol enlisted with [[Merg Vol]] when his kin's [[Merg Vol's Covenant|Covenant remnant]] launched an [[Battle of Draetheus V|assault]] on Draetheus V in [[2554]]. While Merg commanded the attack on the [[Forerunner]]-created [[moon]] of [[X50]], Parg Vol served as the commanding officer of the Covenant forces on Draetheus V. Seeking a way to X50, [[SPARTAN-IV program|Spartan]] [[Sarah Palmer]] stole Vol's personal [[Phantom gunboat]] from his camp while the Sangheili was away.<ref name="hsa21"/> As a [[combat engineer]] bypassed the Phantom's security protocols, Vol returned to his camp and realized Palmer's intent. Vol ordered a full frontal assault on Palmer's position, including [[Type-26 Wraith]] bombardment. Despite his efforts, Palmer succeeded in hijacking the Phantom and traveling to X50,<ref name="hsa22">''Halo: Spartan Assault'', "[[Mission 22: The Scorching of the Thicket]]"</ref> where she assassinated Merg Vol. The battle was soon lost for the Covenant and the remnant fell apart.<ref name="hsa25">''Halo: Spartan Assault'', "[[Mission 25: Battle for the Moon]]"</ref>

After the battle, Vol worked in arms deals and hit contracts before consolidating a small task force under [[Jul 'Mdama]]'s [[Jul 'Mdama's Covenant|Covenant]], joining solely due to his hatred of humanity.<ref name="VIS"/>

In [[2558|February 2558]], he led Covenant ground forces during the early stages of the [[Requiem Campaign]],<ref name="VIP"/> serving as a [[Sangheili Commander|commander]].<ref name="VIS"/> Soon after securing a foothold on [[Requiem]], the [[United Nations Space Command]] learned of Vol's location. He had been overseeing a supply dump of captured UNSC matériel in the [[Quarry]]. [[Fireteam Crimson]] was deployed to assassinate Vol, though the Sangheili escaped aboard a [[Type-44 Phantom|Phantom]] as his forces engaged the Spartans.<ref name="VIP"/>

As Fireteam Crimson were extracted from the supply dump, Vol launched an attack on the [[Office of Naval Intelligence]]'s [[Galileo Base]].<ref name="VIP"/> He was sighted by [[UNSC Marine Corps|Marine]] sentries during the attack, though he again escaped shortly after Crimson's arrival.<ref>''Spartan Ops'', [[S1/Catherine/Galileo|S1E3 – "Galileo"]]</ref> UNSC forces eventually tracked him a Forerunner structure called [[the Gate]], which had recently been retaken from the UNSC. Now-[[Spartan Commander]] Sarah Palmer redeployed Fireteam Crimson to kill the terrorist. After fighting through local Covenant forces of roughly company strength, the Spartans killed Parg Vol and eliminated all remaining hostiles.<ref name="trip"/>

Parg Vol was a ruthless [[Sangheili]] warrior and [[terrorist]]. With the outbreak of the [[Great Schism]], Vol came to despise the [[San'Shyuum]] and the [[Jiralhanae]] for their treachery. However, he also opposed [[Arbiter]] [[Thel 'Vadam]]'s alliance with [[human]]ity, believing the Sangheili should wipe out the humans entirely. Though Vol was never particularly fervent in following the [[Covenant religion]], he joined [[Jul 'Mdama]]'s [[Jul 'Mdama's Covenant|reformed Covenant]], as his volatile hatred for humans aligned extremely well with 'Mdama's cause.<ref name="VIS"/>

Parg Vol wore a [[Sangheili Warrior#Armor|Warrior-class combat harness]], featuring an elaborate helmet, high-framed greaves, and raised-claw armor that was largely ornamental. Vol often carried a heavy weapon for protection, such as the [[Type-33 fuel rod gun]].<ref name="VIS"/>

Parg Vol is the first Sangheili to be identified by name in-game. It is possible to complete [[S1/Catherine/Hunting Trip|Hunting Trip]] without killing Vol, though he has to be protected and forced into cover when the airstrike happens.
