Upon exiting slipspace, Mayhem was attacked by dozens of heavily armed Retrievers. After encountering a pod of peaceful olfmeri, Mann was able to convince the group that the creatures were friendly and briefly managed to communicate with one before they departed. As they continued onwards, the group soon encountered a pack of blind wolves. ===Later career===
After returning from the Ark, Mann conducted several other missions in a similar capacity to FAR STORM, serving as a scientific attache to joint UNSC-Swords of Sanghelios teams. At this time, he felt a need to honour his fallen friend by returning to the Ark and joining the UNSC scientific expedition at the Henry Lamb Research Outpost there. However, he elected instead to take up a posting at ANVIL Station, inadvertently saving him from the massacre that would occur there when the facility was raided by the Banished in 2559. At ANVIL, he served as a scientific researcher working alongside Sangheili artisan-armorers like Khar 'Tvorn. As of 2559, he was involved in researching a suite of recovered ASSAILER-class armor recovered by ONI field teams from Venezian Janissaries. In this role, he worked alongside Chief Warrant Officer Dariya Voronkov and the aforementioned 'Tvorn.
