==Universe and lore==
The map is set in the [[Avery J. Johnson Academy of Military Science]].{{Ref/Reuse|HIMRTANG}}{{Ref/Reuse|CFShowcase}} The space is a weapons-free training space for Spartans undertaking the Spartan Training and Qualification Program, and is located adjacent to the facility's administration department. [[MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor]] is required to enter the area when a combat exercise is active.

The center of the area features a tunnelled hallway, with a door marked BLDG-09. During one [[War Games]] drill, a stray grenade detonated in front of the door, scraping the paint from it and revealing an [[Office of Naval Intelligence]] seal emblazoned on it.<ref name="mindfall">'''[[Halo Infinite|Halo Infinite: Multiplayer]]''', ''[[Mindfall]]''</ref> Behind the door was an elevator leading to a mothballed ONI Section 3 facility, a relic of the Academy's past. Spartan [[Hieu Dinh]] and an Academy trainee managed to open the door and descend the elevator shaft into BLDG-09, where they found a [[Brokkr Armor Mechanism]] still holding a set of [[MIRAGE-class Mjolnir|Mirage IIC]] armor. Dinh, who suspected that the [[Banished]] [[artificial intelligence]] [[Iratus]], who was thought to be safely contained elsewhere in the Academy, was plotting something involving BLDG-09, had his worst fears confirmed when Iratus revealed his presence to the Spartans by infiltrating the Mirage IIC armor. Iratus had gleaned the existence of BLDG-09 from Dinh's memories and managed to break free of his prison, intent on seizing the Academy for the Banished. In short order, the hostile AI spread from BLDG-09 and subsumed numerous Academy systems, including the Mjolnir armor of some of Spartan trainees and the combat simulator, instigating a battle between the Spartans and their [[Infection#Halo Infinite|infected]] brethren for control of the Academy.

In [[Season 03: Echoes Within]], the BLDG-09 door in the central underground hallway was modified to appear blast damaged, revealing an [[Office of Naval Intelligence]] seal underneath the paint, reflecting the events of the "Enemy Mind" cutscene.
