Kola 'Baoth spent most of his life as a warrior within the [[Covenant]]'s [[Covenant military|military]], serving as a [[Sangheili Ranger|Ranger]] with distinction. In [[2552]], 'Baoth began receiving secret communications from his brother, who was serving under [[Sesa 'Refumee]]'s forces while exploring a [[Forerunner]] [[Threshold gas mine|gas mine]] orbiting the gas giant [[Threshold]]. 'Refumee had encountered Forerunner [[monitor]] [[343 Guilty Spark]] and learned that the [[Covenant religion]] was a lie. Upon these revelations, 'Refumee and his forces cut off contact with the Covenant, though 'Baoth's brother was able to send out scattered messages to detail newly encountered truths.{{Ref/Reuse|canonfodder}}

Upon being confronted by these new developments, 'Baoth's faith in the Covenant began to wane. Mann, Lamb, Usze, Kola, and Drifts retreated down an elevator shaft and found themselves within the Citadel's inner tunnels and discovered the facility's damaged central power station. While Drifts worked on repairing the station, Lamb and Mann discovered a damaged [[Aggressor Sentinel]], which suddenly attacked Lamb. Usze quickly destroyed the construct, but Lamb soon died from [[blood]] loss. While Mann mourned the loss of his friend upon Usze's suggestion, Drifts managed to activate a map of the Ark's inner tunnels, including one that lead to the exit of the Citadel. The four came across a heavy, locked [[door]] blocking their path, with the [[Foundry (location)|Foundry]]'s control suite on the other side, followed by the Citadel's exit. Usze and Kola managed to lift the door, barely allowing Mann and Drifts to slide through. While the two Sangheili were ambushed by dozens of armigers, Drifts began toying with the Foundry's controls and confirmed Tragic Solitude's presence to Mann. At Mann's request, Drifts worked to take control of the Ark's systems. As Drifts gained control of the Ark's systems and suppressed the [[monitor]] [[000 Tragic Solitude]], he opened the door between them and the two Sangheili; Usze and Kola—having managed to defeat the armigers—hazily entered the Ark's control room, moderately wounded. In late [[2559]], three days after [[Cortana]] had [[Razing of Oth Sonin|destroyed]] the Jiralhanae homeworld of [[Doisac]], Arbiter Thel Vadam held a [[High Gathering|gathering]] with [[kaidon|kaidon]]s from several [[Sangheili colonies]] to propose a [[Concert of Worlds]], wanting to further unify the Sangheili and take their fate into their own hands rather than submitting to the rule of Cortana's [[Created]]. Kola 'Baoth, Usze 'Taham, and N'tho 'Sraom served as escorts to and from the meeting, which had concluded with little progress made. The four Sangheili returned to [[Vadam Keep]] in a [[Crav]] operated by N'tho while Kola and Usze kept watch on their surroundings. As they passed through the [[Old Borough]] of [[Vadam Valley]], the Crav was stopped by a patrol of Created [[armiger]]s looking for participants of a recent altercation. Although his associates were reluctant, 'Vadam consented to a search of the Crav. During the search, the group's weapons were confiscated, to the outrage of Kola and the others. Realizing that striking down the armigers would likely result in a chain of events ending with the arrival of a [[Guardian Custode]], 'Vadam had his men back down.{{Ref/Reuse|Out1}}

Once they returned to Vadam Keep, the Arbiter was informed that [[Oath Warden]] [[Crei 'Ayomuu]] had come to speak with him. Kola and Usze escorted Crei into the keep's Grand Gallery and remained in the chamber as he spoke with the Arbiter.
