MISSING: Calico cat - answers to: Jonesy
MISSING: Calico cat - answers to: Jonesy
Jonesy (sometimes Jonesey) is a collection of Easter eggs referring to a supposed calico cat aboard the Pillar of Autumn. It is presented as if a pet of someone on board the Pillar of Autumn which would have been on board during the Fall of Reach.

In Halo: Combat Evolved, Jonesy's owner had lost the cat by the time the Pillar of Autumn reached Installation 04 and put notices on the bulletin board and various other Pillar of Autumn boards to alert other personnel to the lost cat. In Halo 3, there are posters reading "Still missing my cat Jonesey," with an apparent silhouette of a cat in the bottom right hand side of the poster. A similar poster can half be seen in the trash on the left side of Foundry facing the fan. A picture of a cat can be seen and the word "missing" and "nesey", which is believed to read "Jonesey". In Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, on several message boards it is stated that a cat was found. However, the pictures of the "cat" are actually pictures of an opossum as a reference to an Internet meme.

Trivia
Jonesy is the supposed name of a calico cat carried on the Pillar of Autumn. It was probably a pet of someone onboard the Autumn and was onboard during the Battle of Reach and when the Autumn reached Installation 04. However, Jonesy's owner had lost him by then, although he put notices on the Bulletin Board to alert other personnel to the lost cat. Jonesy is assumed to have died during the Battle of Installation 04 either during the Covenant boarding, when the Autumn crashed, the Flood Invasion, or when John-117 and Cortana initiated the catastrophic wildcat destabilization of The Pillar of Autumn`s engines that destroyed Installation 04. However, for a cat to have survived that long is extremely unlikely. There is also an apparent silhouette of a cat in the bottom right hand side of the poster, although it could be a black cat.

*Jonesy is a reference to the cat named Jonesy on the commercial towing ship, the Nostromo, from the movie franchise Alien. One scene in the movie has characters go looking for the cat, affectionately calling it "Jonesy". Many aspects of Halo were inspired by elements from the Alien franchise.

Owner
The placement of a Colon in the sentence suggests that the ad is telling the viewer to ask "Jonesy". This would mean that those searching for the cat would have to ask "Jonesy" for an answer, ie. "what does he look like".

Easter Egg
This would make more sence in how Jonesy would constantly be referenced as missing after the events of Installation 04. This would suggest that Jonesy is the owner and survived the battle.

*Jonesy is a direct reference to the cat Jonesy from the first two Alien films.

*On the level "Crows Nest" in Halo 3, there is a pile of garbage located near the toilets in the level. One of the pieces of rubbish is a note which is half covered up, but reads "Still missing my cat Jonesy". So the owner is likely to still be alive.
*A similar poster can half be seen in the rubble on High Ground. You can see a picture of a cat and the word "missing" and "onesy" which is more than likely just "Jonesy".
*It's probable because of the note in Crows Nest that the cat was actually owned by a surviving Pillar of Autumn marine (Dubbo, Stacker, Johnson, etc.)
*Although intended as a mere easter egg, Jonsey may be the ships mascot. Individuals in military service can't own a pet whilst deployed, but ships and even planes have been known to have animals such as dogs and cats as mascots.
*On the Pillar of Autumn, one poster can be found in the hall just outside the Bridge.
*The poster can be seen on several other boards throughout the level.
