Hulon 'Budyasee was a Sangheili officer within the Covenant Navy and the shipmaster of the Sacred Whisper, an intrusion corvette that acted as the flagship of the Bloodstar Flotilla in early 2526.[1]
Biography[edit]
Sacred Whisper[edit]
Hulon 'Budyasee was born circa 2436, eventually joining the Covenant military as all mature Sangheili are expected to do. In the early stages of the Human-Covenant War, 'Budyasee served the Fleet of Inexorable Obedience as shipmaster of the Sacred Whisper, during Fleetmaster Nizat 'Kvarosee's campaign across the human Outer Colonies.[1][2]
In March 2526, the Sacred Whisper was assigned to the Bloodstars, a kai'd of highly-trained Jiralhanae Stalkers and Special Operations Sangheili commanded by First Blade Tel 'Szatulai of the Silent Shadow. In this capacity, the Sacred Whisper served as the flagship of the Bloodstar Flotilla. Their mission was to hunt down the Spartan-IIs that troubled the fleet and investigate a possible alliance with the United Rebel Front against the United Nations Space Command. A courier for the United Rebel Front had caught up to 'Szatulai's squad as they were scouting the colony of Amasa for Fleetmaster 'Kvarosee. They delivered a message from General Harper Garvin, who wished to meet with representatives in an ice quarry on Biko's moon of Seoba to discuss an alliance in exchange for information on the UNSC and their Spartan supersoldiers. Taking this message back to his fleetmaster, 'Szatulai was ordered to meet with the human rebels.[1][2] With the First Blade commanding the flotilla from the bridge of 'Budyasee's Sacred Whisper, the intrusion corvettes left for the Kolaqoa system.[1]
Arrival at Seoba[edit]
- Main article: Battle of Seoba
Arriving in high orbit over Biko on March 19, 2526, 'Budyasee was stood toward the back of the bridge as 'Szatulai observed the planet and its ice moon through the Sacred Whisper's forward observation blister. After witnessing six human vessels launch from the pale moon ahead of them without a single member of the crew announcing this occurrence, 'Szatulai rattled his mandibles to draw attention and told the crew to summon Shipmaster 'Budyasee. When the summons reached 'Budyasee, he confidently strode forward to the First Blade's side and peered out of the blister. Just then, the two Sangheili witnessed another speck rise into space above Seoba. 'Budyasee was stunned as there had been no report from the readers, to which 'Szatulai responded with a thinly-veiled threat that he would have been killed if he had not perceived the problem. The shipmaster began to summon the two obedientaries overseeing the operations of the ten readers making up the bridge crew, but 'Szatulai stopped him, saying that they would learn more by going to their stations instead.[1]
Upon reaching their stations, 'Budyasee questioned Utu 'Gusonee and the other obedientary as 'Szatulai questioned a reader who was seated at his console. The reader showed 'Szatulai that his readings did not suggest any human vessels on Seoba's surface. As they conversed, 'Budyasee and the obedientaries began walking over, but 'Szatulai waved them off as to not intimidate the reader any further. The First Blade informed him of the spacecraft he observed rising into space, which the reader then exclaimed to be impossible without their sensors picking them up. When 'Szatulai insisted that his eyes were not faulty, the reader resolved that the impossible must have occurred. 'Budyasee and the other two Sangheili were then waved over by 'Szatulai as he wondered aloud how the humans had accomplished this. 'Gusonee suggested a cloaking field, but this notion was discarded by 'Szatulai. Coming to the disturbing realization that human stealth technology was superior to that of his own vessels, 'Szatulai ordered 'Budyasee to shoot down one of the stealth vessels to be recovered and studied. However, the shipmaster was reluctant, for the attack would reveal the flotilla's presence and prevent their rendezvous with the human rebels. Dismissing the entire rendezvous as a trap, 'Szatulai asserted his authority and had 'Budyasee carry out the order, believing the "shadow vessels" to be a danger to the fleet.[1] The Sacred Whisper shot down UNSC Starry Night, the flagship of Captain Halima Ascot.[3]

Defense of Zhoist[edit]
- Main article: Battle of Zhoist
After pursuing UNSC forces to the Covenant world of Zhoist, the Sacred Whisper was tethered to the planet's Ring of Mighty Abundance. During the ensuring battle, the ring collapsed and the corvette burned up in Zhoist's atmosphere. It is unknown if 'Budyasee went down with his ship.[4]
Personality and traits[edit]
A cautious commander, he was confident in his prowess and comfortable in his position as shipmaster of the Sacred Whisper, traits that troubled Tel 'Szatulai, who found the shipmaster to be smug and overconfident in his abilities. Despite this, the shipmaster proved to be courageous and dutiful, questioning the orders of 'Szatulai when 'Budyasee feared that the orders would endanger his crew—arguing even when he knew it may cost him his own life.[1]
Hulon 'Budyasee was a stocky, block-faced Sangheili with blunt-ended mandibles. In his nineties, he was overweight and twice the girth of 'Szatulai.[1]
