The fan-named Hugging Elite can be seen in a special non-canonical cutscene at the end of Halo: Combat Evolved campaign by completing the level The Maw on Legendary difficulty.
The fan-named Hugging Elite can be seen in a special non-canon cutscene at the end of Halo: Combat Evolved by beating The Maw on Legendary difficulty.

Overview
A Stealth Elite is seen wrestling with Sergeant Johnson over an MA5B Assault Rifle. They abruptly end their fight when they hear a rumble and realize the nearby Pillar of Autumn is beginning to explode. Johnson then spreads his arms, saying, "Oh shi--" and then "This is it, baby. Hold me." Before the ship's reactor detonates, the Elite obliges and hugs Johnson while also feeling his bottom.
A Stealth Sangheili (Zealot in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary) is seen wrestling with Sergeant Johnson over an assault rifle. They abruptly end their fight when they hear a rumble and realize the nearby Pillar of Autumn is beginning to explode. Johnson mutters "Oh shi..." and then spreads his arms and says "This is it, baby! Hold me." Before the ship's reactor detonates, the Sangheili obliges and hugs Johnson. In the original Halo: Combat Evolved, just before the screen whites out, the Sangheili moves one of its hands down to grab Johnson's rear. However, in the Anniversary version of the scene, Johnson moves his hand down to grab the Sangheili's rear to which he reacts to with a shocked expression.

The cutscene, while only viewable on the Legendary difficulty setting, is not considered canon, since it was specifically made as fan-oriented humor. The novel Halo: First Strike reveals that Johnson and a few other survivors boarded a D77-TC Pelican just in time to escape the explosion, which makes this already dubious scene impossible.
The cutscene, while only viewable on the Legendary difficulty setting, is not considered canon in the Halo universe, since it was specifically made as fan-oriented humor. This contention is supported in the fully-canon novel Halo: First Strike, which states that Johnson and a few other survivors made it onto a Pelican just in time to escape the explosion, which throws the existence of this specific Elite into doubt. This could, however, simply be a case of a duplicate Sergeant Johnson, as some levels have more than one.

In 2011, during an interview with Eurogamer, Bungie employee Eric Osborne jokingly explained that the character who died in the Easter egg was Sergeant Shwanson, Sergeant Johnson's doppelganger.
According to Bungie members commenting on the Halo: Combat Evolved cutscene, its original concept did not involve the Hugging Elite at all; Johnson would be shown on board a Pelican dropship. It is assumed this was omitted so as not to demean Johnson's character.

Trivia
*Although Elites have strength comparable to that of a SPARTAN-II, the Hugging Elite seems to be struggling against Johnson's strength.
*The Hugging Elite's attempt to take the Sergeant's MA5B is unusual, as in several Halo novels it has been stated that members of the Covenant would rather fight unarmed than use human weapons. It is likely that the Elite simply wanted to disarm Johnson.
*In a way, the scene foreshadows events later on in the trilogy by depicting elites and humans at peace.
