In Halo 3`s Multiplayer Forge mode it is possible to create floating objects or bases (also known as Sky Bases). There are two ways of doing this.

Method One
Method One is to stack a number of objects, such as crates or containers on top of each other. Once you have reached the desired height, place a Receiver Teleporter Node on top the stack. Wait a few moments for the crates and teleporter to settle, then delete everything but the teleporter node. Afterwards, place an object on top, such as a crate, container or pallet. To prevent the object from falling due to nearby explosions or contact, place a weapon holder on top of it.
Method Two
Method Two is better if you wish to create really high platforms, or save time and effort. However for this method, you will either need a partner or a second controller. First, have your partner spawn a crate, and raise it to the preferred height. Then, spawn a Receiver Teleporter Node and place it on the crate -- wait a few moments. Have your partner delete the crate, and then place another crate on top of the teleporter node. To prevent the object from falling due to nearby explosions or contact, place a weapon holder on top of it.

Falling Fusion Coils
You can also create falling Fusion Core's to create a feeling as if your map is being bombed. Simply follow the instructions in the "Floating Platforms" section above, but instead of placing a crate on top of the receiver node, place a fusion coil instead. Wait a few moments, and delete the node, and then give the fusion coil a slight nudge. Now when you play the game, fusion coils will fall and explode giving the feeling of a bombardment.

Floating Objects
Some objects, including most of the objects on Foundry are fixed in place once they are set in forge. To make these objects float, you can stack objects, place the object on top, and delete the objects below it.
