The ranks of the Brutes were streamlined; [[Jiralhanae Minor|Brute Minors]] and [[Jiralhanae Major|Brute Majors]] were converted into a single armored class, and [[Jiralhanae Captain|Brute Captains]] and [[Jiralhanae Chieftain|Brute Chieftains]] were given completely new elaborate armor. [[Jiralhanae Chieftain|Chieftains]], which appeared in ''[[Halo 2]]'' only in the character of [[Tartarus]], were shown to have a combat role in ''[[Halo 3]]'', becoming the rough equivalent of [[Sangheili Zealot|Zealot Elites]] in their appearance throughout the game.
