The individual holding the title "Guardian of the Luminous Key" was a member of the Covenant whose arrival in the Ascendant Justice was awaited by the Covenant forces stationed at Installation 04. The Guardian of the Luminous Key was a member of the Covenant whose arrival in the Ascendant Justice was awaited by the Covenant forces stationed at Alpha Halo. He was briefly mentioned in a Covenant message translated by Cortana.. Interestingly this specific being was never mentioned, although with a title as dignified as this, it is likely that the being in question is a Prophet or a high ranking Elite.

It is likely that he/she was killed either by Master Chiefs boarding party, Cortana depressurizing a significant percent of the ship's or the ship eventual destruction.
Trivia
Trivia
It is possible that "Luminous Key" refers to the activation index of Installation 04, which the Covenant were undoubtedly eager to obtain. The Prophet of Mercy refers to the activation index of Installation 05 as "the key", and it does bear luminous green strips. The role of the Guardian of the Luminous Key could have been to secure the index and bring it to the control room to activate Halo, as is later undertaken by Thel 'Vadam and Tartarus. Cortana, who was aboard the ship, did have possession of the Index, but the Guardian of the Luminous Key would not have known this.
*It is likely that this individual's name is related to the Forerunner Crystal, a mysterious Forerunner artifact pursued by the Covenant during the events of First Strike.

*It is also possible that his name was related to the Activation Index, although there is no other evidence that the Covenant knew of it before the events of Halo 2.
