The reason for this style of attack was due to the electro magnetic pulse (EMP) given off by the warhead. By throwing the Fury Tactical Nuke into the grav-lift the Tactical Nuke entered the Cruiser's hull. This used the Covenant Cruiser's shields to block the EMP and essentially preventing damage to the generators powering the Orbital MAC guns orbiting [[Reach]]. This kept the Covenant fleet from being able to get close enough to potentially glass the planet. |
