The M12F Flame Warthog,[1] or Flamehog,[2] is a variant of the M12 Warthog that features a mounted flamethrower.

Design details[edit]

Main article: M12B Warthog

The Flame Warthog replaced the standard autocannon mount on LRV Warthog models with a white-burning flamethrower.[2] The Flame Warthog is slightly tougher than the standard Warthog model.[3]

Veteran Flame Hog variant[edit]

Some upgraded and slightly more expensive variants of the Flame Warthog replace the mounted flamethrower with a mounted incendiary grenade launcher, and further upgraded armor.[3]

Frost Hog variant[edit]

Instead of the tanks being full of Napalm, they are full of super cooled fluids. After the gunner freezes the enemies solid, the Warthog will shatter the enemies by ramming it, or a friendly ZAV-48 Frostraven will shatter the enemy with concussion or seismic Missiles.[4]

Operational history[edit]

Flame Warthogs were deployed against Banished forces on Installation 00 by Lt. Colonel Morgan Kinsano in 2559. In order to combat aircraft, passengers were armed with M41 rocket launchers.[5]

In Halo Wars 2, the Flame Warthog is a unit exclusive to Morgan Kinsano, replacing the Machine Gun and Gauss Warthogs. Flame Warthogs are great for fighting infantry, but do only okay against vehicles and structures, and do very poor against aircraft. It costs 70 energy in Blitz, while Veteran Flame Warthogs cost 90 energy.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Hellbringers still have their tanks attached despite not using their personal flamethrowers.
    • The Blitz art for the Flamehog (flamethrower) has a Hellbringer that lacks it's tank.
  • The Hellbringer's armor for the Flamehog (flamethrower) has a different Hellbringer armor that almost resembles Kinsano's Hellbringer design in the concept art.
