The energy dagger is an energy melee weapon employed by the Sangheili warriors. It is mounted on the wrist of most Sangheili combat armor, and is used to carry out assassinations. These daggers were only used by a handful of Covenant fleets, though it is unclear as to why they were not ubiquitous.

Overview
Design details
The energy dagger is the Sangheili adaptation of the Forerunner misericordia blade-tools. The design bears much resemblance to the energy sword. Unlike the energy sword, however, it ends in a single point as opposed to the dual prongs of the energy sword. It appears to be mounted to a device worn on the wrists of the user. It is possible to use two daggers simultaneously, with one on each wrist.

Non-canon and dubious canon appearances
Trivia
Silver Timeline
*The shape of the energy dagger is very similar to the real-life combat weapon, the katara. It was a South Asian weapon and status symbol, similar to the energy sword's symbolization of status among the Elites.

During the attack on Eridanus II by the Covenant Kig-Yar infantry made use of energy daggers alongside their shields.

Trivia
*When playing a custom game (normal or Firefight), the dagger will not appear for Elite-on-Spartan assassinations, but the dagger will appear if the same match is watched in Theater mode.

*The dagger will also not appear if more than one player is playing on the same console. Because the Elite's fingers also do not move in splitscreen matches, the Elite will appear to use their fingers and claws instead.

*This is the weapon that was used to stab (and kill) Noble Six in the level Lone Wolf.
*It bears some resemblance in both appearance and function to the Hidden Blade from the Assassin's Creed series and the Omni Blade in the Mass Effect series.
