Eayn's planetary ecology was extraordinarily diverse at every level. It featured many tropical environments, with lush vegetation like trees, vines, and ground-dwelling plants.{{Ref/Film|Id=HLeg|Halo: Legends|Detail=''[[Origins]]''}}

The Kig-Yar were distantly related through their evolutionary lineage to the wild birds that called Eayn home, such as vultures and hawks. Many of the avian species of Eayn were plagued by feather mites.{{Ref/Book|Id=MorDi|Halo: Mortal Dictata|Chapter=6}}

The diversity of the Kig-Yar is not entirely attributed to natural speciation. It was suspected by the Covenant as a touch of the [[Forerunner|Forerunners]], and various mutagens in the atmosphere provides evidence of ongoing manipulation and reshaping. Long before the Kig-Yar achieved space flight, Eayn experienced an era defined by gladiatorial combat.
