The '''Drinol''' is a [[Covenant Empire|Covenant]] species that was cut from both ''[[Halo: Combat Evolved]]'' and ''[[Halo 2]]''.

In the [[Behind the Scenes: Making of Halo 2|Behind the Scenes featurette]] from the [[Limited Collector's Edition Disc (Halo 2)|DVD]] included with the ''Halo 2 Collector's Edition'', Drinol are described as huge beasts that are kept contained and segregated from other [[Covenant]] forces. Possessing phenomenal strength, they are often used to smash enemy [[:category:Vehicles|vehicles]]. The August 2011 "[[Bungie ViDoc: O Brave New World|O Brave New World]]" ViDoc revealed gameplay from [[Halo: Combat Evolved]]'s third-person shooter phase, which showed the character that would become the [[John-117|Master Chief]] fighting one such creature.

==Marathon connection==
Bungie enjoyed [[list of Marathon references in Halo|making references]] to their previous game franchise, ''[[Marathon]]'', in the ''Halo'' series.
