After the war's end, numerous frigates fell into the hands of various [[Covenant remnants|Covenant remnant factions]], such as the [[Servants of the Abiding Truth]].

==Classes==
The only known frigate class is the {{Pattern|Ester|armored frigate}}, also known to humanity as ''CAR''-class frigate. The given "R", or Reverence in the frigate's three-letter classification code, "CAR", denotes that the frigate is capable of conducting reconnaissance missions and is capable of excavating [[Forerunner]] artifacts.

There is an unidentified model of frigate that are equipped with multiple [[pulse laser turret]]s, four point-defense guns and one-three [[plasma turret]]s on a lateral surface. They have participated in most [[Covenant Empire|Covenant]]-[[United Nations Space Command|UNSC]] ship-to-ship engagements. Although smaller than most other Covenant capital ships, they are still larger than a [[UNSC frigate]] or [[UNSC destroyer]] at around a thousand of meters.<ref name=pg268>'''[[Halo Encyclopedia (2009 edition)]]''', ''page 268''</ref> Like most other Covenant warships, frigates have a curving, bulbous shape and are equipped with energy shields. There is also a different unidentified model of frigate. Measuring {{Convert|550|m|ft|sigfig=3|sp=us}} in length and {{Convert|110|m|ft|sigfig=3|sp=us}} in width, it has a teardrop-shaped profile, with a long, tapering tail that curl up into an open hook. It has at least one [[hangar bay]], which is mounted on the frigate's belly, which was built in an oblong shape that was twenty metres wide and thirty metres deep.
