The '''summit''' is a deployable structure used by the [[Covenant]] and its [[Covenant remnants|remnants]]. They serve as an extension option on the Covenant's [[Covenant citadel|citadel]] firebases,{{Ref/Site|Id=OHWCS|URL=http://www.halowars.com/GameInfo/Summit.aspx|Site=Official Halo Wars Community Site|Page=Covenant Summit|D=23|M=03|Y=2018|LocalArchive=Archive:Halowars.com/Covenant#Summit}} and are designed for the mass manufacture and maintenance of aerial vehicles.{{Ref/Novel|Id=Umbrage|Halo: Vertical Umbrage}}{{Ref/Site|Id=WPUmbrage|URL=https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/halo-4-vertical-umbrage|Site=Halo Waypoint|Page=Halo 4 - Vertical Umbrage|D=07|M=11|Y=2022}} It serves as a counterpart to the [[UNSC Airpad|air pad]] and [[Banished Apex|apex]] structures employed by the [[United Nations Space Command]] and [[Banished]], respectively—with the latter bearing a considerable visual similarity to the summit itself.

The summit is a large deployable structure capable of being deployed as an extension on a Covenant citadel or [[Covenant citadel#Minibase|minibase]]. Under the command of summit-masters,{{Ref/Novel|Id=Moon|Halo: Battle for the Blood-Moon}} they serve as field airbases and are capable of being [[Slipspace translocation|teleported]] into their mounts from an orbiting [[Covenant starship]].{{Ref/Game|Id=Gameplay|HW|Gameplay}}  

Summits are capable of mass-manufacturing, maintaining and upgrading a large variety of Covenant vehicles.{{Ref/Reuse|Umbrage}}{{Ref/Reuse|WPUmbrage}} These include the {{Pattern|Bkowe'nei|Vampire}} and the various [[design pattern]]s of [[Banshee]],{{Ref/Reuse|OHWCS}}{{Ref/Reuse|Gameplay}} and [[Phantom]].{{Ref/Reuse|Umbrage}}{{Ref/Reuse|WPUmbrage}} [[Huragok]] may also be serviced at a summit, when not housed in their own dedicated [[Huragok recharge station]]s.{{Ref/Reuse|OHWCS}}{{Ref/Reuse|Gameplay}}

In the [[Post-Covenant War conflicts|post-war]] era, summits continued to see use in the [[Jul 'Mdama's Covenant|Covenant remnant]] led by [[Jul 'Mdama]]. In [[2558#February|February 2558]], one such installation was deployed by 'Mdama's forces on [[Requiem]] and was the site of an attack by [[Fireteam Shadow]] during the [[Requiem Campaign]]. During the installation, the [[SPARTAN-IV program|Spartan-IVs]] used [[TQ-8 seeker drone]]s to help their attack on the base, though the mission was interruped with Shadow's recall for a more [[Operation: VERTICAL UMBRAGE|urgent mission]] to [[Naval boarding|board]] and destroy a {{Pattern|Zanar|light cruiser}}, ''[[Panom's Canticle]]''. The Summit is a Covenant building featured in ''[[Halo Wars]]''. It costs {{HWResources|150}} and requires a tech level of {{HWTech|0}}.

The summit serves as the Covenant counterpart to the [[UNSC Airpad]] and constructs units such as [[Banshee]]s, [[Bkowe'nei-pattern Vampire|Vampires]] and [[Huragok|Engineers]]. All the air-based unit upgrades are researched at the Summit. Unlike the UNSC Airpad, which requires a tech level {{HWTech|2}}, the summit can be built at a tech level of {{HWTech|0}}, making an early "Banshee rush" fairly easy. Like all buildings in ''Halo Wars'', it takes the color of the player's team.
