The ''Chersi''-pattern Void Maker has a distinct "pickle" shape with many spikes protruding from it. It has a central control hub located at the top of the bomb. An [[artificial intelligence]] could interface with the control hub in order to activate or deactivate the device, though this required physical contact.{{Ref/Level|Id=H2|H2|Cairo Station}} The charge was initially designed for mining and excavation work, though was soon turned into a military weapon. ==Operational history==
During [[Operation: WARM BLANKET]] in [[2544]], [[Supreme Commander]] [[Luro 'Taralumee]] of the [[Third Fleet of Glorious Consequence]] used a ''Chershi'' antimatter charge to sabotage one of his own {{Pattern|Ket|battlecruiser}}s. During the operation, he laid a false signal trap inside the cruiser to lure the attacking [[SPARTAN-II program|SPARTAN-IIs]] - in this case [[Solomon-069]] - to board and investigate. Once the Spartan ventured into the ship, the charge detonated, killing him and crippling the entire vessel.{{Ref/Film|HLeg|Story=[[The Package (animated short)|The Package]]}}

The Covenant utilized at least three ''Chersi'' antimatter charges during the early stages of the [[Battle for Earth]] to destroy [[Earth]]'s [[orbital defense platform]]s. Covenant boarding parties manually delivered the bombs and detonated them from a safe distance, destroying both [[Athens Station|Athens]] and [[Malta Station|Malta]] stations. [[Cortana]] located the third void maker in [[Cairo Station (station)|Cairo Station]]'s fire control center. [[John-117]] reached the bomb and, after killing the Covenant troops guarding it, made contact with the void maker's control hub, allowing Cortana to deactivate the bomb before it could detonate. John-117 later performed a micro-gravity maneuver to deliver the device to the Covenant {{Class|CAS|assault carrier}} ''[[Day of Jubilation]]'', entering a breach in the ship's hull created by a pair of [[GA-TL1 Longsword|Longswords]].
