| The design for the C712 Longsword was first introduced as a redesign for the craft in ''[[Halo 3]]'', with the ship seen in use at various points in the campaign. It later returned as a background object in ''[[Halo: Reach]]''. The redesigned Longsword can be primarily differentiated from the original with its smaller size, the lack of forward intakes, the fins on the front of the ship between the cockpit and wings, and bulkier engines built into the wings. The ''Reach'' model was reused in ''[[Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary]]'' to represent the C709 Longsword seen in that game; however, as of the ''[[Halo Encyclopedia (2022 edition)]]'', the C709 is canonically considered to be the design originating from ''[[Halo: Combat Evolved]]'' and ''[[Halo 2]]''. As such, the use of the C712's model in ''Anniversary'' is effectively a non-canonical depiction of the craft.
