| Breaking Shadow served as part of the Keepers of the Dawn during the [[War of Beginnings]] alongside [[Ushering Dusk]] and [[Pervading Stone]], their leader. Driven by the desire to avenge the death of his father [[Desecration of Ulgethon|at]] [[Ulgethon]],{{Ref/Reuse|Enc22P258}} Pervading Stone spent years leading the Reformists as they laid waste to [[Sangheili]] [[Sangheili colonies|colonies]] and outposts. Following the harrowing [[Raid at Codisfold|events]] at [[Codisfold]] when Sangheili infiltration teams breached the [[Anodyne Spirit|Dreadnought]] and killed thousands of San'Shyuum, many began to shift their opinion on the war. Realizing that they were not nearly as untouchable as they once thought, Breaking Shadow and Ushering Dusk began to lobby for peace. In response, Stone secretly had Dusk assassinated to remove him as an obstacle.
