Assault is a multiplayer gametype in Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo: Reach, Halo 2: Anniversary and Halo 5: Guardians where one team attempts to 'arm' a bomb in the opponents base. This 'arming' requires the player carrying the bomb to occupy a designated circle in the enemies base for a predetermined amount of time. This is a task greatly aided by Sticky Arming. The bomb will be visible to all players when it is not being carried except in single bomb and multi-bomb games when a team has not removed the bomb from its original spawn site. However, once an opponent has picked up the bomb, it disappears and can only be viewed when seen by you or a teammate. Also after the it has been dropped. It is easy to be seen however, due to its bright glow.
Assault is a multiplayer game type in the Halo trilogy where one team attempts to deliver a bomb to the enemy base.

Basically a reversed Capture the Flag. This is the original assault.

Halo 2

In Halo 2 the flag has been replaced by a bomb. The player must carry the bomb from their base into a designated arm site (a ring on the floor) usually located in the enemies base and hold it there for a predetermined amount of time. This is aided by an option called Sticky Arming where arm site can be passed on to other players. The arm time is usually around 5 seconds but can be changed. There can be more than one spot to arm the bomb. An example of this is on the multiplayer map Ivory Tower.

Halo 3
{| class="wikitable" style="width:100%; margin:2px auto; vertical-align:top;"
Assault has stayed relatively the same in Halo 3 from the Halo 2 version. However, there are some differences. Now, the bomb is automatically armed when placed on the arm site. A countdown then starts from 20 until the bomb detonates. The other team must defuse the bomb by standing over it for 10 seconds. The bomb is reset when successfully defused.

Halo: Reach
The bomb will be visible to all players when it is not being carried except in single bomb and multi-bomb games when a team has not removed the bomb from its original spawn site. However, once an opponent has picked up the bomb it disappears and can only be viewed when in line of sight or after the bomb has been dropped. It is easy to see due to its bright glow.

!Assault
An assault game within the new map Foundry, made by Rooster Teeth's staff. There are gravity hammers and swords as primary and secondary weapons, no weapons on the map, which now consist of a square field (which resembles a soccer field) with two 'goals' on either end. Players do 300% damage and have 10% shields. The bomb must be armed at the opposing team's goal.

General Tips
Games
* You're only as good as your team. Having teammates around you as you carry the bomb makes it harder to kill you. Have at least two people around you at all times, and retreat if needed.

* If you find yourself attacked without anyone to block you, drop the bomb, attack, and pick it up after you kill them.

* A preference of some people is to hide the bomb carrier, thinking they're not going to figure out where you are. If you get a well placed hiding spot, put some people around it, but not enough to make it obvious that you're defending something. Do not place the bomb down if you are hiding it. The bomb will respawn, and the other team will most likely get it.

* A good place for Bomb planting is Sandtrap. Using the tunnels, getting to their Elephant is easy. A good tactic is to move their Elephant next to the tower that has the bomb, and defend it as you get it and hop right on their Elephant.

*The more people you have on the bomb, the faster it is disarmed.

*In One Bomb, most maps have Active Camo somewhere on them. If the bomb carrier has this then it gives you a huge advantage. They won't be able to see him so he can sneak in while the rest of your team keeps them busy.

Trivia
The human Assault bomb has messages written on it.
