Wellsley: Difference between revisions

Wellsely, like all other Artificially Intelligent beings, could choose his appearance. Wellsley chose to appear as a stern-looking man with longish hair, prominent nose, and a collared coat<ref>[[Halo: The Flood]], page 209</ref>, and so he resembled his namesake, [[wikipedia:Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington|Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington]]. He was a "dumb" [[A.I.]], meaning he was only created for one type of position, in his case being a military assistant. He often referred to the victories of the Duke as though he were the him and not an artificial recreation, which annoyed everyone he came in contact with.<ref>[[Halo: The Flood]], page 48</ref> It is possible, though unconfirmed, that he was the other A.I for the {{UNSCShip|Pillar of Autumn}}. Lieutenant [[Hikowa]] mentioned Wellsley as being for "point defense."<ref>[[Halo: The Fall of Reach]], page 273</ref>. A factor against this would be that he was already in Major Silvia's HEV (Human Entry Vehicle) when he arrived. It is also possible that "his" purpose as a second AI would be to guide Marine Forces whilst Cortana would guide the Spartans and fighter craft. He is presumed destroyed when the ''Truth and Reconciliation'' crashed onto the surface of [[Installation 04]]. If not, he was almost certainly destroyed along with any possible survivors when the Pillar of Autumn's engines went critical, destroying the ring.
