The UNSC Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration awarded by the UNSC to its soldiers. Originally created in 1782 by George Washington of the Earth nation, the United States of America, the Medal of Honor has been used continuously for almost eight hundred years. Its appearance has remained virtually the same since 1943. However, instead of being worn around the neck as the soldiers of the old nation, the UNSC Medal of Honor is a medal worn with all other medals, on the chest of the wearer.
The Medal of Honor is awarded for conspicuous acts of individual gallantry among UNSC soldiers during times of war. It is unclear if this award is equal to or superior to the Colonial Cross but they appear to be seperate awards, as each is seen in Halo 2 with a different design.
