==The battle==

Alluvion was first discovered by the [[Covenant]] in [[2541]] by Covenant scouting patrols. One year later, in [[2542]], the colony was attacked by the Covenant. The [[United Nations Space Command]] managed to defend the planet with a substantial military force, keeping the Covenant at bay for weeks. However, a Covenant support fleet arrived and severed Alluvion's critical support lines, and the colony soon fell to the Covenant shortly after. The Covenant [[glassed]] major population centers and [[spaceport]]s on the planet, leaving few survivors in its wake. By [[2544]], no human presence remained on Alluvion.<ref name="universe"/>

Spartan [[Gabriel Thorne]]'s [[Thorne family|parents]] were [[UNSC Army]] officers stationed on the planet at the time. They, along with Alluvion's human population, died when the Covenant glassed the planet.<ref name="HE7"/>
