Template:Triple battle infobox The Rain Forest Wars[1][2] were a series of bloody conflicts between United Nations, Koslovic and Frieden forces in 2162.
Background
In 2162, armed conflict ripped through South America as Koslovic, Frieden and UN forces clashed over ideological differences, sparking additional conflicts off-planet, such as the Argyre Planitia Campaign. This war brought a great deal of suffering to the people of Earth, and caused an enormous famine.
Trivia
- A Soldier's Tale: Rainforest Wars was written about this event by Jeremiah Mendez. This book is a favorite of CPO Mendez, and described as a "military classic" in Halo: Ghosts of Onyx.[3]
- Two of Admiral Preston Cole's great-grandfathers (on his mother's side) served in the Rain Forest Wars. One did not survive. The other, Captain ´Oliver Franks, received the Bronze Star.[4]
- An early timeline had the Rain Forest Wars take place in 2170. This was changed a few months later in development.[5]
