The most powerful ship in the fleet does not have to be the flagship in the battlegroup, modern aircraft carriers are typically the flagships of individual fleets although their armament is based entirely on the fighters they can deploy and they lack the conventional ship-to-ship weaponary of the lower classes. If it could be so assumed that UNSC carriers still possess the basic attributes of modern carriers, in that they're mobile platforms for launching troop deployments and fighter aircraft but lack heavy armament (in this case a MAC gun) it would be impossible for a carrier to be a more "powerful" ship than a Marathon class cruiser since no amount of Longswords could make up for the lack of a MAC system against Covenant naval forces. | |||
