			Its my belief that the combined and repetitive fire from the super macs(remember they reload in five seconds) brought the shields down but they stopped firing when they reliazed that the chief was onboard and he was able to destroy it from the inside the super macs would have made big wholes in the mantles approach armour but would not have destroyed anytime soon due to the size of the ship.
