In late 2559, the Forerunner and human essences trapped in the outer boundaries of the Domain, under the command of the Ur-Didact, rose up against the Created. Using a ritual that had been devised long before by Abaddon, the Haruspis was able to pull all of the iterations of the Warden Eternal that was in the Domain and its outer boundaries into a single body, rendering him vulnerable. The Didact engaged the Warden Eternal in battle, ultimately destroying the construct. While some iterations may have been trapped in the physical world and thus survived, they would be unable to reconnect with either his body or the Domain which would drive them "quite mad," permanently neutralizing the Warden Eternal as a threat.

Subsequently, the Didact led all of the essences - both Forerunner and human - into the Domain which strengthened it and allowed the Domain to evict the Created. Although some rogue AIs and splinters managed to escape being kicked out, the Didact and his allies planned to hunt them down and destroy them. The Haruspis was able to seal the Gateway on Genesis and set out to close all links between the Domain and the physical world, thus depriving the Created access and keeping anyone else from abusing the Domain's power in the way that they had done.
